Community Energy in Practice: Municipalities as leaders of the energy transition

The workshop is co-organised by Electra Energy, Energy Agency of Plovdiv and Greenpeace Bulgaria in the framework of the Life COMET project, and aims to bring together municipalities, public bodies, practitioners and civil society actors to exchange practical experiences and explore opportunities for advancing community energy in Bulgaria and the wider region. The session will:

  • Present municipality-driven energy community models, particularly relevant for Eastern European contexts
  • Share best practices from Greece and other COMET countries, including coalition governance structures
  • Explore collective renovation models (Citizen-Led Renovations or CLR) and their relevance for municipalities
  • Discuss funding opportunities and structural barriers in EU frameworks
  • Identify interest and next steps for establishing or strengthening a national or regional community energy coalition
